End-of-Life Planning Consultations
Covid-19 is a stark reminder of the fragility of life. It has asked us to deeply consider notions of impermanence, and has forced us to face our mortality—all while physically distancing and sheltering in place.
Engaging in conversations about death and dying, gathering information and options, and working on an end-of-life plan can help alleviate fears, worries, and anxieties brought to light as a result of this unprecedented pandemic.
In the spirit of caring for each other during times of crisis, The Lily House is offering end-of-life consultations, virtual and/or by phone, as an opportunity to engage with our mortality and to open our hearts and minds to the inevitability of dying.
Planning ahead for end-of-life has many benefits:
creates peace of mind
increases our knowledge of end-of-life options
supports us in making informed end-of-life decisions
reduces worries, fears, and anxieties associated with death and dying
improves our end-of-life experience
empowers us to live more fully in the here and now
During end-of-life consultations, we can help you:
Create an advance care plan for your end-of-life wishes
Develop a legacy project as a gift for your friends and family
Conduct a life review to bring clarity to this moment in time
We can also provide information on:
Hospice and Palliative Care
MOLST Form (Massachusetts Medical Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment)
Medical Aid in Dying
Voluntarily Stopping Eating and Drinking
Active Dying Process
Community-based After-death Care
Other community resources
Consultations are provided at no cost, or by donation, and are facilitated by End-of-Life Doulas Dawn Walsh and Kim Adams, both members of the End-of-Life Doula Alliance.
