Paula has been profoundly moved and even changed for the better by significant losses—the suicide of her brother David, the loss of Jola her beloved dog, the act of bearing close witness (through caregiving) to the slow decline and at-home death of her best friend Lauren. Because what was lost remains a rich source of strength and love! Because compassion and gratitude were born of reclaiming grief and honoring death. In her work as an outreach social worker, Paula developed an understanding of how to engage essential community support and services to help break down barriers to care. To Lily House, she also brings her passions for exploring the natural world, growing fresh food and flowers, reading and writing poetry, singing, and finding humor in the lovable quirks of each day. It is Paula’s great joy to join in the soulful adventures of The Lily House.
